5 Ways To Unwind in the Evening

5 Ways To Unwind in the Evening
Having spent probably a third of last year glued to a computer screen whether that was to complete university projects, blogging or just general life musings, I decided to set myself a New Years goal to spend less time sat at a screen and more time doing other hobbies that I forgot I even enjoyed doing. For today's post I decided to share with you some simple ways to unwind in the evenings, step away from the keyboards for an hour or two and how beneficial is can be.

I never really understood why so many people recommended you to come away from a screen an hour before bed until now. Whether its doing revision or writing a blog post, it is so important to switch off in advance before you hit the hay. Why? Because your brain needs time to rest, it can cause insomnia and other problems.

1.) Do A Puzzle | One thing I have enjoyed doing in the evenings is impossible jigsaws with my mam, suduku or even a crossword in a magazine. All of these are not only good for the brain, but quite enjoyable too. Call me old but I love trying to complete a puzzle.

2.) Adult Coloring | A great way to relax and unwind before bed is to do a bit of colouring in. I love these adult colouring books that have recently came about, they are so de-stressing and fun to do. I sleep so much easier if I colour in before bed as my brain has switched off and is ready to sleep.

3.) Read A Book | I've recently started to read The Hunger Games trilogy before bed and I definitely think it's exciting and relaxing getting lost in a book just before you fall asleep. I am definitely going to read more books this year as I forgot how relaxing they actually are!

4.) Listen To Music | This is something I do when I am in bed, I like to listen to some music on my Ipod (not phone). This usually gets me to sleep within half an hour and takes my mind off any worries.

5.) Netflix | I sometimes like to spend some of my evenings watching a show on Netflix rather than be sat at my PC. I've been watching a lot of films and getting into more TV series, such as Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries and The 100.

How do you unwind in the evening??

  2. I have the same one line a day book & I love writing in it just before I go to bed. I also like the thought of being able to look back next year on what I did this year, I kind of see my blog like that too.

  6. I love everything you mentioned! I've never thought of doing a puzzle but it sounds fun and good to give your mind a rest. It depends on the day but I always read, listen to music or watch netflix on my evenings. I read the hunger games trilogy and I totally love it! But the second one is the best haha. And I watch pll and tvd as well so great choices :)
ps: I'd love to read a post about a playlist you listen before falling sleep.

  11. This post is just what I needed.

I've had trouble switching off lately.

I find watching make up tutorials help me - as long as theres not too much talking, I don't want to have to concentrate too hard.

Lately I've been getting back into colouring to help my anxiety.
