Beauty Tryouts #4

Beauty Tryouts #4
I've recently been trying out a lot of new beauty products which is good for my blog but bad for my bank account, naughty me. There is still another half a year to conquer my New Years Resolution to spend less money. Since my last 3 Beauty Tryout posts have been such a success I decided to write a fourth.

LUSH Mask of Magnaminty | £6.25
I've wanted to try this mask for a while now so I finally caved and bought it. You can use this mask not only for your face but for your body too, so this is perfect if you suffer from chest or back spots. I have oily skin so an exfoliating face mask is like killing two birds with one stone for me. This leaves my skin feeling so soft and hydrated, it's a good mask to use if you've been wearing makeup all day and your face is feeling muggy. I definitely would repurchase this mask!

Nails Inc 'Oregon's Out' Polish | InStyle Freebie
I don't do much with my nails unless there's a free Nails Inc Polish in a magazine of course. I really like the vibrant blue shade so I have been wearing this on my feet and since then I have actually been wearing more toe-showing off shoes! It was a bit tricky to apply but that could just be because I am not the best at painting my toes. The polish dried fairly quickly and I've hardly had to repaint them due to any chipping which is perfect!

The HA Blur is supposed to blur, hydrate, minimize pores and plump your skin. You can apply this all over or mixed with foundation or even wear it alone. I have been applying this as my primer before foundation and I must say I am really impressed with this product so far. It reminds me of The Body Shop Insta Blur in the sense it blurs out any imperfections and reduces any oiliness. This product definitely helps reduce any redness on my skin and mattifies my base before any makeup. I find my foundation glides on so much easier and lasts a whole lot longer without it starting to crack.

Zoella Body Fondant | £10.00
After being really pleased with Zoella's new Sweet Inspiration Bath Range I decided to try the Body Fondant. Can I just say holy moly this smells incredibly delicious, you need to smell this next time you are in Superdrug! The sponge application reminds me of the olden days when women would powder their faces with these applicators, am I the only one? You rub the sponge into the product and then rub this fondant all over your skin. This gives you a subtle shimmer and healthy glow (perfect if you have a tan!). It also makes you smell amazing which to be honest is the main reason I have been covering my arms and legs in it every other day.

A Six Month Goal Recap

A Six Month Goal Recap
I can't quite grasp the concept that it has been almost half a year already since I posted my 2016 Goals blog post. I could have sworn I was only eating the remains of my Christmas chocolate yesterday, oh well. For today's post, I decided to do a little bit of a recap on where I am with my 2016 goals and whether or not I have epically failed or conquered my 5 aims for this year.

Less Screen Time | Last year I felt as though I wasted a lot of my time sitting at my desktop scrolling through Youtube or any other form of social media and put all my other hobbies aside. Since then I haven't been on my desktop as often I make sure I come off hours in advance before bed and some days I don't even go on! Instead, I like to read a book, colour in or watch something good on Netflix. I get a much better nights sleep and I think it has decreased any stress or anxiety I sometimes get.

Keep Up To Date | I set myself a goal this year to try and keep up to date with going to the gym 3 days a week and keep up to date with any other life bits and bobs. Since then I have been attending the gym 3 times a week (unless I am working late!) and I have been keeping on track with my blog. It did take a while to get used to working and making time to blog but I try to aim for 3 blog posts a week.

Use More, Buy Less | I've definitely been using up more products that I have owned for a while but as for buying less...erm. I haven't been buying as much makeup as I used to but I do find I've been buying a lot more clothes or homeware. I still have the other half of the year to try and stop!

Blog More Me | I'm not too sure if I've incorporated more blog posts about me, I've definitely been sharing more of my life on my Instagram, but my blog hasn't changed as much. The only thing that's changed with my blog is I am writing a lot more lifestyle blog posts and swaying a little bit away from the world of beauty.

Talk Fitness & Healthy | Following on from the above I set myself a goal to write more blog posts about health and fitness and I definitely think I have been. I like to write about motivation to workout, feeling good about yourself and other health-type blog posts.

Overall so far I don't think I've done too bad on my 2016 goals, I can definitely tick a couple of these off. However, the areas that still need improving on is buying less and blog more about me.

How are you getting on with your NYR's??

My 'Long Day' Makeup Gems

My Long Day Makeup Gems
If I know I've got a long day ahead of me that requires being out the house all day I like to prepare by choosing makeup that'll not smudge, melt or start to crack throughout the day. It's a challenge but these are the products I tend to reach out for that really help stop me from having any quick trips to the bathroom to touch up as often.

Base:
Once my moisturizer has sunk in I like to apply The Body Shop Insta Blur which is basically a 5 in 1 silicone primer that helps with problematic areas. This helps mattify my face, reduce any redness and helps to wake up my skin before I apply any makeup. I love this primer I can honestly say this is the best primer I have used for keeping my foundation and powder in place all day without any shine or cracks. My foundation choice is Estee Lauder Double Wear and this is by far the best foundation I have ever used for amazing coverage and a flawless finish. This foundation doesn't melt or leave my skin feeling heavy even after 6 or 7 hours, it is definitely buildable but a little does go a long way. I do wish there was a cheaper alternative to this foundation though as it a pricey bugger.

To set my foundation I use Mac Mineralise Skin Finish Powder which I have used since I was in school. This really mattifies and sets my foundation in place for the day and doesn't slide. It doesn't melt off or leave me with any cracks so it is perfect to carry with me if I need to top up. To set my overall base I will use the NYX Matte Finishing Spray and this just keeps my makeup from going oily throughout the day. I do want to try the dewy spray mind as it is nice to have a bit of a dewy finish.

Eyes:
My overall favourite mascara has got to be Benefit Roller Lash and I always like to use this mascara if I know I have a full day ahead of me. This gives me length, it separates out all my lashes, adds a bit of volume and most importantly doesn't smudge. If you are wearing makeup all day the last thing you want to be worrying about is having panda eyes so whenever I invest in a new mascara that is one of the things I look out for. For eyeshadow, I like to use a couple of neutral shades from the Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette. I am so happy I treated myself to this palette as it is by far one of my favourites for everyday wear. I always turn to this palette if I know I am busy all day but want something natural on my lids. This gives such great pigmentation and doesn't budge all day, so I don't have to worry about any of it melting off.

Lips:
I've recently been wearing the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lipsticks and I seriously want them all. They do an amazing range of nude shades so if you like wearing more browns and neutral shades definitely check out their range. I always reach for this nude because it's great for those lazy days where I want something on my lips but nothing that stands out too much. Firstly they smell like Cadbury's Mini Eggs which of course is just amazing. They are long lasting but you do have to top it up after a couple of hours. If you know of any lipsticks that stay in place all day do let me know!

My Top Soap&Glory Products

My Top Soap&Glory Products
If someone was to ask me what my favourite drugstore brand is I would 100% without a doubt say Soap & Glory. Over the years their beauty range has really impressed me and my collection still grows to this day. It started off with a couple of skincare lotions but now even the makeup has got me smitten. This was originally going to be My Top 5 Soap & Glory Products but I couldn't narrow it down to just 5 so 6 it is!

S&G Solar Powder | I am so glad I picked this up because it literally is a speedy solution to contour and bronzing. I have ditched all my other bronzers, contour palettes and religiously used this for the past year or so. This adds great shape and dimension to your face without it looking too dark or streaky. It is incredibly easy to blend in and requires no time or effort at all. If you are looking for something that is simple and easy to use for adding shape to your face definitely try this.

S&G No Clogs Allowed Face Mask | This is a deep cleansing face mask that reduces breakouts and unclogs pores. It heats up on your skin therefore it is the most perfect treatment to use for when you want to relax, I honestly found this so relaxing and great for when I feel stressed. Once washed off my skin is left feeling super moisturized and radiant. However with regards to reducing any blemishes I cannot say I've seen any results but a side from that this is a very relaxing face mask which is why I enjoy using it.

S&G Face Mitt | This is the newest product added to my Soap & Glory family and already it has made such a difference. This is such a gentle little mitt for massaging in soft cleansers onto your face. I like to use this once a week and it instantly leaves my face looking a lot more awake and radiant. Such a cheap and effective little item to have in your skincare routine!

S&G Brow Archery | So Harry Potter has his magical wand and now so do I. This product is what changed my opinion on eyebrows, before this I was not fussed. It is the quickest and easiest product I have ever tried for filling in my brows. If you are in a rush and can't deal with spending 10-15 minutes on your brows then definitely try this. This gets my brows filled in within a couple of minutes and abracadabra I am ready for the day! I have honestly gone through so many of these and no other brow product has got my head turning since.

S&G Kick Ass Concealer | I love compacts like this as I find them so handy for travelling or overnight stays. This 3 step kit is great for under the eyes, not only does it help cover but it also brightens and wakes your eyes up instantly. It is very easy to blend in and is the perfect product to use if you have had lack of sleep. I do wish they brought more shades out as sometimes I find it can look a bit dark but, other than that it is such an eye wakener.

S&G Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Sticks | I 100% recommend everyone to give one of these a swatch next time you go to Boots. I always have one of these in my handbag as they are so quick and easy to apply. They don't last a massive amount of time - perhaps an hour or 2, but because they are so quick and easy to apply this doesn't bother me. I love the shade 'nudist' the most because it is perfect for everyday wear and doesn't wash me out.
