Series Worth Binge Watching This Week

Series Worth Binge Watching This Week
Netflix: “Are you still watching Tiger King?"
I'd be lying if I said I haven't spent an unhealthy amount of hours watching series and movies over the past few months. It's been quite satisfying cleansing my watch list and finally getting round to watching series and movies I've had sat on my list for months.

I decided to share what I've been watching during lockdown recently that I would recommend if you need something new to watch!

01. The Stranger (Netflix)
Adam is a happily married father of two whose life is turned upside-down after a stranger tells him a secret about his wife. The revelation catapults him into a world of danger.

I enjoyed this series, each episode was easy to pick up and it constantly kept you in suspense with secrets and twists! Nothing was predictable, which is always my concern with these types of mysteries. I think I binged this over a few days! My only critic is the ending wasn't as great as I had hoped for, but the whole storyline and twists make it worth the watch!

02 Safe (Netflix)
After his teenage daughter goes missing, a widowed surgeon begins uncovering dark secrets of the people closest to him.

I loved this series! Probably more than The Stranger, both of which are written by the same person and acquire the same genre. Safe for me was a bit more dramatic and had more plot twists that kept you in suspense. I also really liked the ending and didn't see it coming, I would 100% recommend this series if you enjoy mystery and suspense.

03. Tiger King (Netflix)
A rivalry between big cat eccentrics takes a dark turn when Joe Exotic, a controversial animal park boss, is caught in a murder-for-hire plot.

I feel like everyone will have watched this by now, but if you haven't I highly recommend you do. The trailer doesn't explain what actually happens in the series, it's not so much about the tigers, it's more about the drama and rivalry between animal park bosses, including bloody Carole Baskin who is the most infuriating person to watch.

04. Never Have I ever (Netflix)
Never Have I Ever is an American coming of age comedy-drama series. It is about an Indian American high school student dealing with the death of her father and the complicated life of school.

The synopsis doesn't make it sound as interesting as it actually is, but trust me it is worth adding to your Netflix list. With only half an hour episodes I think I binged this within a few days! This is such a lighthearted and funny series to watch if you are wanting something that has that teen-style element but also deals with a lot of issues like acceptance of identity and social pressure. Trust me this is worth watching!

05. The Devil Next Door (Netflix)
A Cleveland grandfather is brought to trial in Israel, accused of being the infamous Nazi death camp guard Ivan the Terrible.

A very interesting documentary if you are keen to learn more about the history and complex case of an alleged Nazi prison camp guard. This was well put together and very gripping to watch. I would recommend watching it if you aren't aware of who this man was or just want something different to watch.

06. Into the Night (Netflix)
When the sun starts to kill everything in its path, a plane full of passengers must travel at night in an attempt to survive and escape its destructive power.

This series is honestly so good! I could not stop recommending it to friends and family. Although it is dubbed, which can bother some people it didn't bother me that much. A lot of drama and on edge moments keeping you on your toes. If you like watching survival sort of series, definitely give this a watch.

07. Normal People (BBC Iplayer)
The series follows Marianne and Connell through their time at secondary school and college in Ireland. The focus is mainly on their weaving in and out of each other's romantic lives. Marianne is regarded as an oddball, though she rejects having any care for social standing. Connell is a high-achieving athletic student, popular in the school community, though he is diminished by his remaining silent during the bullying of Marianne. This creates complexity as their relationship develops.

This series is amazing! I loved the character's development and I loved Marianne and Connell's hot and cold relationship. It's an easy watch with only 30-40 minute long episodes, though I wish there were more of them to watch as I binged this so fast! I'd quite like to read the book version of this if anyone has, was it worth the read? but overall definitely would recommend!
